Does God really care about something like what I eat? My weight or my health?

It can feel almost trivial to bring those things to Him. Especially when you know there are people praying for healing from serious illness, for protection, for things that feel so much heavier. So you keep it to yourself. You try to handle it on your own.

But here’s the truth:

God doesn’t rank your struggles the way we do. He’s not measuring what is “serious enough” to deserve His attention. If something is affecting your daily life, your ability to show up can be diminished.

He cares for you. Not because of the number on a scale, but because you matter.

When it Feels Out of Control

I’ve had my own struggles with food for years, including times where it felt completely out of control. Like no matter what I told myself, I couldn’t stop binging on massive amounts of sugar and carbs.

I’ve had moments where I’ve sat there, overwhelmed, and prayed, “God, please help me stop”. Not because I lacked discipline, but because something deeper was going on.

As someone who works in nutrition, I see this often. People aren’t lacking willpower. They’re overwhelmed, they’re tired, and they don’t feel like themselves anymore. And underneath that, there’s often quiet frustration. Many times, even shame.

You Can Bring This to God Too

I want to assure you. God meets us in those places too. Not with judgment,
but with patience, guidance, and care. You don’t have to have a “big enough” problem to talk to Him. You don’t have to fix it first.

You can bring:

  • the inconsistency
  • the starting over
  • the frustration of not feeling your best

Every single bit of it.

Taking care of your health isn’t separate from your faith. It’s part of how you live, move, and show up in your life.

And you don’t have to do that alone.

If you’re trying to manage this right now, you don’t have to figure it out on your own, practically or spiritually.
